A Blurry Moment with Rickard Söderberg

Photographing Stockholm Pride is always a celebration, full of colour and energy. This year felt especially memorable when Rickard Söderberg appeared in the middle of my own exhibition in the Pride District. Naturally, I wanted to capture the moment. But the camera had other ideas—or, more accurately, my own fingers did. Without realising it, I had knocked the viewfinder’s dioptre adjustment. Everything in the display was simply blurred. For an old professional photographer, it was the ultimate nightmare: a true amateur mistake that brought me out in a sweat. Fortunately, a little seasoned calm and a good laugh can solve most things. I rolled the adjustment back, found the focus again, and finally captured Rickard’s presence in the photograph. A lovely memory from the exhibition, and a reminder that even an old pro can stumble over the technology—but that the final result is what counts.
