I was driving across Tullbron in Linköping when traffic suddenly slowed down. The reason? A family of ducks crossing the bridge. It got a bit chaotic — but also became one of those moments you remember.
It wasn’t the first time I had seen scenes like this over the years, and they often turn out to be great photo opportunities. This time there was something extra. One of the ducklings was completely yellow. Not just a little lighter — but clearly, strikingly yellow.

The edges down toward the Stångån river are high, but the mother duck was in full control. Calm and focused, she showed the way, as if saying: this is how you do it when you’re a duck in city traffic.

First Jump, No Turning Back

The yellow duckling’s appearance may be caused by leucism — a condition present from birth where pigment is reduced. Unlike albinism, leucism does not affect eyesight or sensitivity to light. The duckling simply stood out. And sometimes, that’s all it takes.
