Bernt-Ola Falck was a much-appreciated photographer at Östgöta Correspondenten in Linköping. He was born and raised in Småland and had a great passion for capturing people's lives on camera. His speciality was capturing scenes of everyday Swedish life, and he was always on the hunt for the perfect picture that could tell a story.
But one day B-O was struck by cancer, which put an end to his career. Even so, he did not let the cancer stop him from continuing to photograph. Instead, he used photography as a kind of therapy, and he kept documenting the everyday life around him.
One of B-O's projects was a series of pictures about "The Swedish Auntie". He had captured a range of different older women in Sweden, and his pictures told of their lives and experiences. It is a moving tribute to the older generation.
Ulrika Sparre was B-O Falck's love for a long time. Now she has completed the work, and what he never managed to finish himself is now done. The exhibition, which opens on 13 May at Arbetets museum in Norrköping, is a tribute to B-O and his lifelong work as a photographer
B-O's work has continued to inspire many photographers, and his memory lives on through his art. He proved that even though life can be hard and full of struggle, there is always a way to keep fighting and to express yourself on your own terms.
