Mystery and Vigilance = the Grey Heron

Mystery and Vigilance = the Grey Heron

Grey herons are extremely alert and react quickly to movement and sound in their surroundings. This makes them hard to approach, which only heightens their aura of mystery and inaccessibility.

The grey heron thrives near water and is often found by lakes, rivers, wetlands and coasts. They build their nests high up in trees, often in colonies together with other herons. These nests are large and built from twigs, adding yet another dimension to their imposing presence in nature.

These photographs were taken on various occasions at Hjälmaren.
