Avoid Strong Sunlight…?

How many times have you heard that you should avoid photographing in strong sunlight? Forget about it, try for yourself. It is not entirely easy, but to say you shouldn't photograph just because the sun is shining is a bit much.
All of these images were taken on Midsummer's Eve in the company of good friends, and this year there was brilliant sunshine. We used a very simple accessory that you can also make cheaply yourself at home after a trip to the kitchen. All you need to make a reflector is metal foil and a sheet of cardboard, preferably white.
Thank you for your patience, Marret, Boris, Tatjana and Doreen, who also took the photos showing how we worked.
I picked out a few different places and settings to photograph in. Either entirely in the shade or with the light falling in behind the model. By my side I had my old partner Peter Lindström. He made sure light was reflected into the models' faces with a direction coming from above, just as the sun's rays always do. This is how it turned out in black and white.
