It was a grey afternoon when my mother and I went out fishing on Lake Hjälmaren. The sky hung heavy with clouds, and before long, the rain began to fall.

Grey herons are extremely alert and react quickly to movement and sound in their surroundings. This makes them hard to approach, which only heightens their aura of mystery and inaccessibility.
